These are the words that are often used to describe Nicola. She can seem like a ‘jack-of-all-trades’ as she possesses an arsenal of different skills. She loves learning, is never afraid to admit her faults, and can bring order to chaos.
With more than a decade of experience in drama (private lessons, competitions, high school subject choice, tertiary studies), she has earned numerous gold, silver and bronze performance certificates. Her most notable awards include a gold sertificate for stage management for her high school’s entry into the Eldo Toneelfees 2018.
Throughout her tertiary studies, she volunteered to act as graphic designer, project manager, scriptwriter, stage manager, venue manager, video editor, videographer and similar roles on numerous academic-related projects.
Thus, most of her work are the results of self-taught skills rather than any form of formal training.
In 2022 she decided to start a YouTube page (NixieTube – Nicola Prinsloo) for fellow artist-scholars such as herself to explain complex concepts, analyse popular works used in Drama and Film Studies, and share the intricacies of the Drama and Film industry. Her goal with this channel? Use common language and relevant examples to simplify most of what she has learned while providing artist-scholars with references for their academic work.
